Weekdays in Vegas

Three days away from my wireless connection was difficult. I'm sorry, but I like to be plugged in.

Despite the lack of internet access, I have to say we had a great time in Las Vegas. We drove up to Mt. Charleston (who knew there was skiing 45 minutes from downtown?), visited Red Rock Canyon, crossed back and forth between Arizona and Nevada atop Hoover Dam, and lounged in and around the Luxor pools. Not your typical Vegas vacation, although we did venture out on the Strip a bit.

I think my son had the most fun visiting Hoover Dam, but not for the reasons you might think.

"Why'd you bring us on this dam vacation?" *giggle*snort* from the back seat.
"We thought you'd have a dam good time." *belly laugh*
"There's too many dam people here." *snarf*giggle*
"Well stop your dam complaining!" *choking laughter*
"Can I get a dam souvenier?" He's laughing so hard he can't breathe by now.
"Yes, but you realize you'll have to stop all this dam cursing once we leave the dam?"

I missed my Write a Review Wednesday. Did I mention I didn't have internet access? But I still did push ups on the hotel floor, and I even started doing sit ups during the rest periods! Of course, I ate so much that I didn't lose weight, even with all that exercise. On the bright side, I didn't gain any either.

Much as we liked the Luxor, the kids and I decided we don't want to stay there ever again. Is it wrong to reject a hotel that charges $14.95/day for internet access over an Ethernet wire? I think not.

I'm hooked on my internet, too. Even just to catch up on deleting email, etc, to make the return not so bad.
Our last vacation we forked out the $10/day for internet and it made it kind of nice I have to say.

Three weeks ago, we were driving past Lake Isabella on the way to my sister-in-law's, and husband said, yes...."Dam!" They never grow up and out of it, you know! :)

Am I wrong, or is it Hoover Dam where the skeletons are guards, in one of the Percy Jackson books? See any?!

I'm glad you had fun, Sherrie. I've skied at Mt. Charleston before. Red Rock Canyon is an awesome place too. Did you see any burrows? I love getting off the Strip when I'm in Vegas. We didn't have a car last time we were there, so we were stuck in the city. LOL @ all the dam comments!

I'll be seeing you tomrrow on our first blog stop for A NEW JOB FOR DILLY! I can't wait -- we've got some awesome hosts (like you) who have some really fun ideas planned for the tour! Hope to see you and everyone else there, and thanks so much for participating! :)

PJ - I've paid for internet before, but I was irritated that the fee was high and we still had to be plugged in to Ethernet!

Becky - LOL! And you're right about the Hoover Dam guardians from Book 3 of Percy Jackson. Those were the first things we took a picture of :)

Rena - We were looking for burros and bighorn sheep, but none showed up for us. I'm excited for you with the tour :)

I am feeling happiness for you — that you got away, that you've come back.

We did the same dam thing when we went to the Hoover Dam! :)
Glad you had a good trip. I'm up to 7 on my pushups now! (I"m not kidding...it's hard!) You girls are hard core!

Looks like you had a fabulous vacay and it's as painful as life is without internet access, it is sort of nice to unplug every once in a while. Welcome back to the interwebs!
