Summer Lovin'

Ballard School's 6th grade graduates
Yesterday was the last day of school. And I'm telling you, the teachers were just as excited as the students :) My son is now done with elementary, ready to move on to middle school in the fall. I cried at the promotion ceremony (ok, I admit, I do every year!), hugged the students I'll miss, celebrated as we pulled out the yearbooks we'd worked so hard to put together.

I have big plans for this summer. I have a lot of writing/revising to do, and I need plenty of time to just enjoy my kids. They're growing up so fast. I don't want to miss any of it.

So I won't be blogging as much this summer, probably just once a week with a few special posts thrown in here and there. I'll miss being around to interact as much with all my bloggy friends, but I wouldn't trade the time with my family and my writing for anything.

We're going on vacation so I won't be back here until June 22. In the meantime, tell me YOUR plans for the summer. I hope they involve lots of fun and LOTS of writing!

Enjoy your vacation, Sherrie.

I've got 2 1/2 weeks left before school's finished for the summer. I'm trying to get as much revisions done by then as possible because I plan to spend more time with the kids this year than I plan to write. And I'll be reducing my posts to twice a week. What day are you blogging on?

Aw...he's going to middle school. That's such a big leap. I've been at this point with my kids three times; one more to go. Not looking forward to it. You are wise to scale back the blogging for the summer. I plan on doing the same. My oldest will be a senior, next year, and...yeah, can't write anymore about that. :) Enjoy your summer. If we miss each other blogging, we'll catch up in the Fall.

school's been out for us for about a week now, but there's been general end of school year busyness with graduations of stuff for the older kids in the extended family. mostly i'm hoping to get in some writing time and yard work! we've been in our house for 4 years now and have done a fair bit on the inside, but the outside is still a total mess! throw in a couple camping trips and that's how our summer's looking!

Congrats to you son and have a great vacation!

I'm hoping Alz and I can finish this draft by the end of summer, but life is throwing us some huge curve balls lately. So we'll see how that goes. As for trips, I'm planning to go to NYC at the end of summer. It'll be epic!

Have a great summer!

My son left elementary school this past year and boy was that tough on me. Elementary school was such a big part of my life for so long, and it's strange to be done with it!

Have a wonderful time, Sherrie! And families ALWAYS come first.

I'm happy I just got to spend four days with my older son before he headed to Boston to start his new job! (See how fast they grow up?)

Have fun, and congrats to your son, Sherrie!

My kids are off after June 24. I *hope* to write and read this summer while trying to figure out what to do with my 14 year old son and my 8 year old daughter. Sighhh I wish they liked the same things!!

Have a wonderful summer! Lisa

Enjoy your time away!

Plans this summer include a couple of trips to B.C. (one to go see Michael Buble with my daughter and the other a family trip with my sister). And on either side of that, I'm running the Summer Reading Club for our library and hanging out with the grand babes...and writing writing reading reading....!

First off, congrats on the elementary school graduation. My oldest heads into high school this fall--the middle school years went fast.

I also have a busy summer ahead, so blogging will have to contract a bit if I am to do any work on my fiction.

Have a wonderful vacation, Sherrie!

Thursday was the last day for students and Friday was the last day for me as a teacher. I'm going to do plenty of reading and writing this summer.
