Deep Thoughts

“Do not lose hold of your dreams or aspirations. For if you do, you may still exist but you have ceased to live.” - Henry David Thoreau

Every week on American Idol at least one judge tells a contestant: don't lose sight of who you are.

It's a good reminder. Sometimes we get so caught up in wanting to achieve that we sacrifice little pieces of who we are. We change our views to fit in or try to make ourselves into who we think other people want us to be.

Don't do it.

Hold on to your dreams, stay true to who you are. And don't forget to live.

Okay, so it's just one deep thought for today. I think it's enough.

Have a fabulous weekend!

One deep thought can chance your life.

Thanks for yours, here's one I like:

You are not stuck where you are unless you decide to be -- Wayne Dyer

Simple in theory but difficult in practice- sometimes I think I'm so focused on my goals that I forget to live a little

Not only is it "enough" but it's everything...

I love Henry David, he's so deep. I wish I could marry him. Great post! Have a great weekend.

What a great thought. And I think those of us on the internet need to especially pay attention to it. It's so easy to lose yourself on the internet, because you don't really know people. You can say anything. You know?

Wonderful deep thought. We must stay anchored in who we are with our unique thoughts and goals as we progress forward.

It may only be one, but it is such an important one! Thanks for the reminder and the positive boost going into the weekend! :-)

That's such an important thing to remember. It's so easy to get caught up in everything going on in life that it's good to take a step back, breathe, and take a look at where we're going.

I realized yesterday that I wasn't following your blog (thought I thought I was), and was missing out on all this great stuff! I feel like such a ninny...but it's been remedied! :)

Karen: I like that one! I've always said happiness is a choice. I'll have to print out that Wayne Dyer one too. Thanks!

Jennifer: Glad it encourages!

Katie: I totally resemble that statement! Let's be sure to LIVE this weekend!!

Candy: Glad I could be your everything, if only for the day :)

Jamie: I'm so glad! We can all use a little inspiration :)

Piedmont: Yeah, what happened to all those deep, sensitive guys?! You have a great weekend too :)

Elana: Totally! You have a sort of anonymity on the internet that makes it really easy to become a different person. It's good to have LIVE people around who can keep it real :)

Shannon: We all need a boost sometimes -- me included!

Tabitha: I'm glad the post is a good reminder. It's something I needed reminding of myself!

I heard that advice on American Idol too and it really struck a chord with me. I want to write something I'd love to read and stay true to who I am as a writer. Easier said than done.

A deep thought, but very satisfying! :) To stick with who you are, you need to know who you are as well. Thoreau was big on introspection as well. Good man. :)

Great quote. Thanks, I needed that today.

Very deep and profound. I should post this quote above my desk. (Hugs)Indigo

Oooh, this is a good one. A friend invited me to a girl's night out, and in my head I was thinking, "but I want to stay in and write." Needed to hear that "Don't forget to live."

Laura: Easier said than done is absolutely right, and probably true for every step of this journey.

Susan: So true that you need to know who you are before you start. Back to navel gazing ;)

Corey: I needed it too.

Indigo: It's a good quote to have in front of your eyes.

Lori: The living part might be the most important part to remember, especially for us introverted always in front of the computer types :)

Katie: Love you too!!

Susan: Sounds like quite a few of us needed to hear it. Glad I could be there for you :)

Tricia: Isn't that what they tell us writers: dig deeper? :D

Lydia: You're welcome :)

Rena: Glad you liked it!

This is lovely! Thank you for sharing this. I don't watch American Idol, so I don't here these deep thoughts. :)

I think this is one of the reasons I've decided to put off publishing for the next few years. I don't want to lose sight of who I am or where my priorities should be.
