The Creative Binge

I've been working so hard on not-fun-projects (i.e. freelance work, volunteer work, housework, work work -- notice a theme here?) that finding myself with some free time has been...freeing. I have time to write again, and edit. All the pent up ideas are finding their way onto the page. At last.

So that's what I'll be doing for the next few weeks -- bingeing on words. Mine.

Delicious.

How do you plan to spend your first few weeks of summer?

We're taking the kids to NYC for a weekend to see SUPERMAN, and I've got family visiting from Kansas in the last week of June.

But other than that, I plan to be sitting next to my goldfish pond, hopefully making terrific progress on my WIP!

I know exactly what you mean! Unfortunately, my time just got eaten up instead of being freed up because my sister and I adopted a puppy. So it's all puppy all the time now. Haha, but I hope after he's more adjusted, I'll get some of my reading/writing time back. I love him though, so no real complaints...except for being so tired! Haha.

Summer has taken on a different context now that I work :(. But I've been knee deep in editing for the last couple of weeks. I am not an editor by nature, but chipping away at that wall has brought it's own satisfying of the creative craving. I'll be glad to get back to writing writing, though :).

I have a few days off before my kids come home for summer (kindergarten's last day was earlier) so I am getting home projects done so I can concentrate on writing next week! I may try to fit an hour or two of writing this week too...
Enjoy the bingeing! :)

I still have a couple weeks left to go and I'm looking forward to it. I def. don't get as much done with family visiting and the kids home but that's okay. :)

Yay for the creative binge! I wish I could get a lot done in the summer, but it doesn't usually work that way.

Dianne: Superman sounds fun, but that pond sounds even better! That's the best part about writing on a laptop. It's so much easier to be creative when you aren't strapped to a desk. Have fun at the pond!

Krispy: Puppies are so much fun! My daughter got one a few months ago and he's such a doll. Except for the whole training him where to pee and not to chew up all of her shoes part :P

Get some rest!

Jenny: Oh, I sympathize with the work dilemma! Oy! This is my first summer working a regular job in a long time. I'm glad to hear the editing helps satisfy the creative crave. Any way you can keep that spark alive is good. Keep carving out the time. You'll get there!

Kelly: I read a Maggie Stiefvater post not long ago where she said she wrote Lament in four months using just two hours a day. Fit in that writing time wherever you can. It makes a difference, not just for the writing, but for your creative spirit. Go Kelly!!!

Laura: I know it's hard to write when more people are around. That's why end up doing a lot at night when everyone's in bed. Sleep's overrated anyway, right? :P

Susan: The best laid plans, huh?
I got a lot written last night on my WIP. Once I finish the current chapter, I'll turn to revising an older story. I'm loving this binge!!

Michelle: It is! And it's so amazing to me how being creative, makes me more creative! Love that kind of cycle...

Marcia: Then enjoy your binge, too!

That sounds positively wonderful, Sherrie! Enjoy every minute of it. I plan to be lazy with my kids for a bit. :)

My kids aren't out of school until the end of the month. Yay! Meanwhile, I'm cleaning the fence (so I can restain it) while waiting for my beta readers to finish reading my WIP. I'm dying to edit my other project, but I need to clean the fence first or else it will never get done (because I love editing to much to do anything else!!!)

Have a great word-binging weeks. :)
