Back in March I won an amazing basket of luck from the wonderful StoryQueen, Shelley Moore Thomas. She had received it from the equally wonderful Jackee at Winded Words.
Now it's my turn to pass it on. And wouldn't you love to have this gift basket shipped to your home? It will have two books (see below), a yummy treat from the Solvang Bakery and a special lucky item, like the fantastic luck dragon Shelley sent me.
The books in this prize package are: I'd Tell You I Love You, But Then I'd Have to Kill You by Ally Carter (Don't you feel lucky just knowing that the person you love isn't going to kill you? Always a bonus!) and Savvy by Ingrid Law (one of my favorite books and favorite speakers from SCBWI last summer).
If you'd like to have a turn with the basket of luck, just tell me in the comments something that made you feel lucky or why you think you're lucky. One lucky winner will be selected on Friday.

What an awesome contest! Who doesn't love a basket of good luck?
Why do I feel lucky? Because God has graced me with the talents to follow a life of creativity, and given me the right people at the right time in my life to push me forward. I've had a lot of bumps and stumbles along the way, but each one has made me a little stronger, a little more learned, and a little less afraid of the unknown. Thanks for the great reminder about the good things in life!
To be honest, I don't really feel lucky, in that I hardly ever win contests and such. (Not to be confused with my life over all, which is very blessed).
so many this time my luck will change!
Ooo, what a cool contest. I'll admit, I'm like Elle. A lot of times I don't even enter contests because I never win. But maybe my luck is changing.
Happy Monday!
Sorry, I'm too cynical to feel "lucky". There's always something underneath the rock.
No need to enter me, as I have one of those books already. But I'm lucky because I'm persistent!
I feel lucky because I win so many of the blog contests I enter, not sure why but I just won another one from Mason Canyon. An awesome audiobook that I can hardly wait for!
Oh, I feel SO lucky to be in NJ, so close to all the editors and agents in NYC that I get to meet them in person at many local events!
Since I began blogging, I feel lucky. Not only have I won a few things, but I've met wonderful writers who have given me loads of support.
My answer has been taken! I'm about the most unlucky person I know! I never win crap (well not *never* but you know)...Here's to wishful thinking.
Well, I'm overseas so I don't mind if you want to excempt my entry- but- what makes me feel lucky? Um, I feel lucky when I've accomplished something, whether its passing my driving test, my students speaking full phrases in english, or an agent asking for a partial. I mean, most of that has to do with hard work but I can't help but feel lucky anyways. I've never had the kind of luck that wins big at the casino.
I feel lucky because I love the way my life has turned out. I know most of it is because of good, but hard decisions along the way, but also a bit of luck.
I've been lucky to know so many supportive bloggers and have won some contests too!
All joking aside, I won an awesome stapler in third grade and have felt lucky ever since.
I am lucky because I have stinky shoes. (from running.) They really stink, but I love them, and they keep unwanted people away (I'm talking to you salesman at the door.) =D
This is going to elicit groans, but the day I married my husband, I never felt luckier.
Marissa
I feel lucky because I won an ARC of a book I was dying for, Linger.
JEM: Love this comment! Stumbles do make us stronger and you're lucky to realize that :)
Elle: Maybe your contest luck will change!!
Shannon: I wish you good luck on the contest as well :)
Kay: You never know -- you might find a pot of gold under that rock!
Diane: Persistence is key to finding good luck.
KarenG: Isn't it fun to win great stuff?
Corey: You are lucky to be so close to the publishing center. Sounds like the conference you went to was amazing!
Theresa: I feel the same way. Blogging has brought me lots of luck.
Candy: No one wants to win crap! :) Hope you win some GOOD stuff. Good luck!
Katie: You sound like my favorite quote from Thomas Jefferson: "I'm a great believer in luck, and I find the harder I work, the more I have of it."
Kelly: You ARE a lucky girl and that joy you have shows in your smile :)
PJ: I think believing that you're lucky when you're younger helps you believe in luck when you're older. I hope you still have that stapler!
Carolyn: Lucky stinky shoes? I love it!!
Marissa: It's supposed to be the most important day of your life so I'm glad you associate it with good luck!
Riv: Winning Linger is VERY lucky indeed. Great book!
Since I've already won something awesome from you, I'm not going to strain my poor brain trying to come up with something amazing. :)
I love Ally's books, though I've only read the first two of the series. I wish I could write humor like that.
OK, cringe in advance, because this is going to sound soooo cheesy...
But I feel so lucky to have found my real dream husband. I know you think I'm exaggerating.
He is adorable.
He is a writer.
He is a singer/musician.
He makes violins, for a living.
He loves me!
I warned you!
But we're about to celebrate our fourth anniversary, so I can't get how lucky I am off my mind!
I am not entering, just have to say, "Go little basket, go!"
Shelley
I have to say that I feel beyond lucky to have met you, Rachel and Cindy last year at SCBWI!
I have both of these novels, so don't include me in the contest but I'll still play along for fun...
I feel lucky because I realize there isn't much of it. Most of life is hard work and being willing to stand up one more time than you fall down.
Aw, Sherrie, it does my heart good to see this little basket making its way into someone else's life. As much as I'd love these books, please don't enter me because I want the basket to move about to others.
Since I equate luck with blessedness, I'm going to have to say that I'm one of the luckiest people I know. I have so much though I do so little. (Although like Elle, I never win blog contests. Ha, ha.)
And as Shelley said, "Go, little basket, go!"
Sweet contest!
Why am I lucky? I have family that loves me, healthy children, an excellent education, and don't worry about shelter or where my food comes from. I am healthy and can worry about things like why Blogger wasn't working today. I have what many in the world don't have.
I have won the lottery, so to speak.
Why am I lucky? I live in the beautiful mountains where I get to write, with a husband and son who think that's a cool thing for me to be doing. I'm lucky because writing doors keep opening for me, and I keep having the opportunity to walk through them. And I'm lucky because I have room for those books on my shelves!
oooh good stuff! I am lucky b/c I get to work from home doing things that I love!
What a fun idea! I feel lucky each time I see one of my children smile, or hear them giggle, or tuck them in at night. My children make me feel like the luckiest mama in the world! :-)
Great contest! I feel lucky that Davin asked me to join him at the Literary Lab. Being a part of that blog has been amazing for me as a writer.
Great contest, Sherrie! I feel lucky, but in truth, I'm blessed, because I have a family who loves me, will put up with me, stand by me unconditionally. Of course, my kids' sweet sayings and belly laughs remind me of what's really important.
How cool a pass it on basket. :) I just won a basket from Jackee for the May Scramble Challenge. I think I'll copy you and Shelley and pass the basket forward. :)
Why do I feel lucky? OMGoodness, I am so lucky! I grew up very poor, from a divorced family, uprooted from my country and family to move to America. I worked hard to get through college and met my best friend, Walter, and married him. We've been together for 26 years and have produced one beautiful, kind, briliant, creative 14 year old daughter. I taught school for 17 years and developed wonderful relationships with my kids...Many of them are facebook friends that keep up with me after 20 years. :) Now I'm lucky enough to be pursuing my newest dream...to be a published writer. Thanks for making me reflect on all the adversity that lead to my wonderful present day life....Life is beautiful...You just have to look for it. :)
Stina: I am so looking forward to delivering your prize in person. Just over a month to SCBWI!! Woohoo!!
Faith: Not cheesy. Beautiful. Congratulations!
Shelley: I'm so happy to be passing it on :)
Paige: Cindy dropping her scarf was the best thing ever! SO LUCKY to have met you guys!
Tess: Hard work and getting up when you fall down -- excellent to remember! Thank you for that beautiful thought!
Jackee: Thank you for starting this wonderful tradition. I'm excited to see where it goes next.
Lydia: Fabulous list! You are one lucky lady :)
Becky: You do live in one of the most beautiful places. You've had some great luck!
Christina: Isn't it great being able to work in your pajamas? I feel lucky that way too :)
Shannon: Children bring their own wonderful kind of luck, don't they? I think your kids are pretty lucky too!
Michelle: I think blogging has brought me lots of luck. I'm glad I can pass it on, too!
Kristin: You are a lucky lady!
Sharon: What an amazing amount of luck you've had! You have certainly learned to find the beauty in life. Thank you so much for sharing this!
Wow, what a great contest! Love the basket of luck!
I've felt lucky ever since I was a senior in high school and won a full scholarship to college. My father was dying and we were beginning to have very bleak conversations about paying for the state school that was my back-up plan; then I received a scholarship for full tuition and another for room and board. There were a lot of terrible things that went on that spring, too, losing my father and depression, but I'd been handed a big opportunity just when I needed one desperately. And life seems to go on like that - plenty of bad, but a whole lot of luck.
haha! its true! id tell u id love u but then id have to kill u. At least my friend says its true.
