Editing and Winners

I'll be deep in edits today. There is some part of editing a story that makes me crazy, especially when I'm staring at the screen trying to think of another word for smile because I've already used it three times on the same page. But I also love when a question from a critique partner makes me look at what I've written in a completely different way. That's when I can add the depth and layers to the story that are missing when I'm frantically trying to get words on the page.

This whole writing thing...it's such an amazing process. I'm so glad to have found this community, that we can share our journeys, our knowledge, our successes, our growth.

But that's not why you're here today. You're here to find out the names of the two lucky people who have won Amazon gift cards.

I did the drawing differently this time. I assigned each name a number, then I went to random.org to have numbers randomly generated based on the number of entries. Yes, I used number three times in that sentence. This is not my novel. I'm allowed :D

So, without further rambling from me, the two randomly selected winners are:

Shannon O'Donnell and
Bish Denham

Congratulations ladies!! I'll be emailing your gift cards shortly.

Have a great weekend everyone!!

Congrats to Shannon and Bish--two wonderful bloggers!
Sherrie, I'm dedicating today to revising several chapters based on crit comments. I, too, am so grateful for that support and for the opportunity to write. May you find many ways to smile-happy weekend!

Congrats shannon and Bish! And thank you Sherrie for visiting my blog! I hear you about edits. I firmly believe the process will be neverending until my book is actually on shelves- which may or may not be for a very long time:)

I feel the same way about the community here! I've learned so much about the writing process just trolling (not really trolling, actual trolling) other blogs. Good luck on revisions!

Sherrie, I'm with you, Tricia, and Stephanie, knee deep in revisions. At least we're in it together. ; )

I too, had a question from a critique group member the other night that shook my whole story up. Thank god for critique groups.

Write on!

Congrats Shannon and Bish. Sherrie, have fun with those edits today because you are rocking that MS! I'm desperately trying to get the last of 5K words done before my friend who threw out this writing challenge dishes out public shame. Sometimes we have to resort to threats to get that BIC time. :)

Yay! Thank you sooooo much Sherrie! I'm going to put it towards the new Rick Riordan book - so excited!!!

Good luck with editing today. I'm on what I hope is my last round before querying. Have a great weekend! :-)

Agh! The repetitive word curse. It strikes me all the time. Almost as often as the alliterative word curse.

Good luck with the edits! :)

Congrats to Bish and Shannon! Fab blogger friends!

And happy editing. You seem like the type who's always smiling, so I'm guessing you won't have any trouble at all.

I know what you mean about the crit partners and beta readers.

"What do you mean Aerosmith will charge me a fortune to use their lyrics in my novel?" Fortunately my smart beta reader had an answer for that. :D

I swear, one day I'm writing a novel where no one smiles. They just have blank faces the entire novel. ;)

Congrats to your winners! Bish is on a lucky street! You go girl! ;0)

The repetitive word syndrome. Ouch. Like bad breath, you don't know you have it until someone points it out. That's why you need trustworthy beta readers.

Have a great weekend, Roland

I don't know what I'd do if I couldn't right click on a word for synonyms!

Good luck with your editing!

The editing process is always an interesting journey. Like you, I love when I get a piece of feedback that gives me a whole new insight into something. It's a great feeling, and one of the best parts about having critique partners.
